The Engagement Ring
A number of years ago, I had the pleasure of replacing the settings on Paula’s engagement ring, as over the years of constant wear the claws had eventually worn down.
Although being an international client I have done a number of pieces for Paula and over the years we had discussed the options of building up her engagement ring to give it more volume, to make it easier for all to see it!
With lots of emails and Skype chatting we were able to harness the inspiration and came up with a design that included the original three stones whilst still managing to accommodate the original wedding and eternity bands unaltered, fitting snuggly against the revitalised engagement ring.
One overseas trip later, a mock up the final design, I collected the ring. Then commenced the exciting 12 hour process of handmaking a modernised version, giving it that timeless feel, keeping the original height and incorporating the new surrounding stones and adding more diamonds to the band.
The result, a timeless piece that will take the rigors of daily wear of an engagement ring, no longer in need of future maintenance of that of a claw setting. This is now truly an heirloom piece to be handed down to the next generation.
